We’re so glad you’re here. My journey with MIS began ten years ago when we first opened our doors. I am honored to continue carrying out and growing the vision for Atlanta’s school for gifted learners as Head of School.

From the moment you walk into MIS, you'll notice our school feels different from any other school you know. And that's entirely on purpose.

We designed our school specifically for gifted students who need challenging and creative work to stay engaged academically. Our approach values collaborative problem-solving, critical thinking, and co-learning between students and faculty. MIS students don't memorize facts or do worksheets; they learn about the world in meaningful ways, together.

Our small class sizes create an environment where each student can be supported and challenged every day.

We acknowledge that certain gifted populations have been overlooked because they don’t look like the stereotype or due to testing parameters that fail to identify diverse populations. At MIS, we seek to increase equity in gifted education.

All of this happens in a space where students feel the joy in discovering, in deciphering difficult problems, in stepping outside of their comfort zones...essentially, in the act of learning.

Our international component - global languages beginning in kindergarten, domestic travel beginning in third grade, and international travel beginning in fifth grade - stretches gifted learners by engaging them in lessons with a global social perspective.

Too often, gifted students move too quickly for a traditional classroom. Waiting for the rest of the class, they get bored and restless. This can be misinterpreted or fed with additional work.

We created MIS as a haven for gifted learners, and we unite each day to make sure every student is engaged and thriving. Learning at MIS is kinetic and contagious, and the joy of discovery is woven into who we are as a school community.
